С приходом теплых времён года, на улицах страны появляется всё больше бездомных животных, а в частности собак. Многие граждане обеспокоены этой проблемой, из-за чего появляются изощрённые способы борьбы с зверями. Но несмотря на ОСВВ – способ обращения с бродячими собаками, известный как «Отлов – Стерилизация – Вакцинация – Возврат», узаконивающий их свободное нахождение в городской среде, бездомные животные по-прежнему страдают от жестокого обращения со стороны догхантеров – людей, которые занимаются их истреблением путём разбрасывания отравы. На улицах у животных не остаётся выбора кроме того, как попасть в такую ловушку. Но как от нее скрываться?
Догкиллеры
Чаще всего такие люди оправдывают свою жестокость тем, что стараются обезопасить людей от нападения стай бездомных, то есть диких животных. Лица, относящиеся к дагхантерам, оставляют отраву на улицах в виде чего-то съедобно для голодных бродяг. Животному достаточно лишь вдохнуть яд, из-за чего нередко страдают питомцы доброжелательных граждан. Места с большим скоплением людей, такие как парки или сады, оказываются наиболее популярными дог–хантинга. Поэтому при выгуле питомца хозяин должен быть предельно внимателен. В случае отравления животного Президент Российской кинологической федерации Владимир Голубев призывает всех владельцев собак оперативно обращаться в ветеринарные клиники. «Чем раньше – тем лучше: на счету может быть каждая минута», – подчеркнул кинолог.

Так как ОСВВ не в силах повлиять на «собачьих охотников», то для бездомных животных самым безопасным для жизни местом являются приюты. Отлов собак городскими службами осуществляет «заселение» бродяг в безопасное от догхантеров укрытие. Приюты являются одной из ключевых составляющих защиты животных и выполняют четыре основных функции:
1) Ветеринарная помощь и забота.
2) Долгосрочное содержание.
3) Поиск хозяйна потерявшимся питомцам.
4) Или поиск нового дома и семьи для дворняг.
В каждом городе России есть множество приютов, принимающие бродяг под свою опеку. Финансовая и материальная помощь значительно помогают и улучшают жизни животных в приютах нашей страны. Многим известны такие благотворительные фонды, как «Бим», «Рэй», «Ника», «Динго», «ЗОО Дом» и многие другие организации, осуществляющие поддержку бездомных животных.
Бим
Фонд «БИМ» был создан в 1986 году. И стал основателем первого в России приюта для животных. Фондом открыты в общей сложности пять приютов на территории Москвы и Подмосковья, успешно функционирующих на сегодняшний день. Общее число животных более трёх тысяч. Приюты фонда очень серьезно относятся к поиску дома для кошек и собак. Окончательное решение о передаче животного принимает президент фонда Тараскина Дарья Сергеевна. Волонтёры и Тараскина Д.С. оставляют за собой право отказать соискателям без объяснения причин.

Рэй
Фонд помощи бездомным животным был основан в Москве на базе волонтерского движения по защите животных, которое ведет свою историю с 2012 года. Основная цель их деятельности – помочь бездомным животным, а также приютам, в которых они содержатся. В настоящее время они работают более чем с 40 приютами Москвы, Подмосковья и близлежащих областей, в которых в общей сложности проживают более 16 000 собак и кошек.

В 2011 году впервые пришли в заброшенный неблагополучный частный приют – 100 собак и 15 кошек много лет проживали там без должного ухода, внимания, общения и питания. Фонд помощи был основан в 2011 году. Свою деятельность он ведет исключительно на благотворительные пожертвования. С 2017 года они проводят стерилизацию бездомных животных на базе ветеринарной клиники Серебряный Скальпель. Также они помогают кормами для кошек и собак жилищам, в которых проживает большое количество животных. В домах и квартирах обычных людей иногда проживают 10 и более животных.

Зоо Дом
Благотворительный фонд помощи животным «ЗОО ДОМ» – приют для бездомных и нуждающихся в помощи животных, оказавшихся в угрожающих здоровью и жизни ситуациях, которым нужны дом и забота человека. Фактически приют «ЗОО ДОМ» существует с октября 2013 года.Сейчас в приюте: 137 собак и щенков, 21 кошек и котят. С их помощью нашли дом: 287 собак и щенков, 713 кошек и котят.
