В Прибалтике с «RULA» началось массовое производство, далее в Риге «Ripo», Таллине «Rula», Ленинграде «Лидер» и «Вираж» со стеклопластиковой декой, Киеве «Вираж» с резиновыми «подметками»
Далее начинают появляться клубы, региональные федерации скейтбординга, доски появляются в кинематографе, а сам скейтбординг получает статус вида спорта в СССР.

Свой след оставил скейтбординг и в советском кинематографе — в фильмах «Курьер» со знаменитой сценой слалома на Воробьёвых горах и «Приморский бульвар», на съёмки которого пригласили главных скейтеров Союза. В 1989 году группа скейтеров (Крис Уикс, Рами Абуромия, Адам Крон, Моника Бушам, Оден Коннели и Хэнк Скотч) отпраились в путешествие по СССР для знакомства с советскими коллегами. В последствие, Хэнк Скотч написал репортаж для журнала Thrasher. Путешествие проходило по следящему пути: Москва, Таллин, Ленинград.
Если кратко, путешествие должно было длится пять дней, но растянулось на две недели. За это время скейтбордисты взглянули на союз с другой стороны. «Если два часа назад я думал, что Россия — катализатор холодной войны, то сейчас я видел перед собой свободных, открытых людей».
А для СССР данное мероприятие стало переломным моментом. Доски начали менять свой вид и подход к самому спорту начал меняться.

Данных вид спорта не останавливается в развитие, наоборот, он становится только популярней. Краснодар считают одним из лучших городов для скейтбординга: погодные условия и наличие нескольких скет-парков тому подтверждение. В 16 продал велосипед, решил купить скейт и начал кататься.Был перерыв. Год не занимался, а в 17 продолжил.
Я буду заниматься скейтбордингом, пока хочу. Главное — поддерживать физическую форму.
Советую не останавливаться не перед чем. В скейтбординге очень много падений, но в то же время, когда у тебя что-то получается, это невероятные эмоции. Скейтбординг считается одним из сложных видов спорта, поэтому нужны выносливость, сила воли и рвение вперед.

— Скейтбординг для меня это неотъемлемая часть жизни, благодаря чему я могу самовыражаться и становится сильнее. Безусловно, его нужно считать спортом, так как есть те кто посвящает этому жизнь, добивается небывалых высот и в итоге может показать чего он достиг.
Для меня все началось с роликов про скейтбординг на ютубе, дальше я попросил маму купить мне доску и начал осваивать азы.
В скейтбординге не существует возрастных ограничений, кататься на скейте может ребёнок, а может и старик. Главное дух и поддержка, а не физика. Например, мои родители полностью поддерживают меня с моим желанием кататься на скейтборде, не только морально, но и финансово.
Для начинающимся могу посоветовать, как можно больше кататься, смотреть видеоуроки, усердствовать, смотреть на профессионалов и брать пример. Иногда надо делать паузу, но все же стоит понимать для чего мы занимаемся этим и какие эмоции это на приносит.

— Скейтбординг для меня это искусство. Полноценным спортом я бы его не назвал. скорее искусство, требующее спортивной нагрузки.
Началось всё с BMX. Раньше занимался на нём, потом меня наказала мама и я не мог на нём кататься. У меня дома лежали подвески от скейта, я выпилил доску из фанеры и пошёл кататься.
Возрастного ограничения нет. Сейчас катаются с пелёнок, всё зависит от родителей. Я уже достиг уровня, но мои родители против этого хобби. Мне просто нравится кататься…чем лучше, тем лучше.
Я не тот человек, который раздаёт советы. Просто нужно кататься и делать то, что нравится. Надо найти то, что тебе нравится: музыка, другое увлечение или даже любимый человек, который мотивирует, тогда всё будет нормально. Нужно искать мотивацию не только в скейтбординге, если здесь не идёт, то ищи в чём-то другом.
Скейтбординг — опасный вид спорта, ведь вы можете упасть на ребро (что и случилось с Максимом после интервью), сломать ногу или руку, но это неважно, когда у вас есть желание. В нашей стране каждый год строятся новые скейт-парки, проходят соревнования и всё больше молодых людей интересуются данным видом спорта/хобби.
